If you crave authentic, great-tasting, traditional southern cooking, one of the oldest cuisines in America, Minnie's Uptown cafeteria-style eatery is the spot to check out. Minnie's, "the home of legendary country cooking, located at 104 8th Street in Columbus, GA. Some menu items include fried chicken (the best in the area), baked lemon-pepper chicken, hamburger steak with gravy, chicken pot pie, country fried steak, mac and cheese, rice with/gravy, green beans, turnip greens, sweet potatoes, fried okra, just a partial list. My meal included the fried chicken, turnip greens, and mac and cheese, all of which was delicious. Should you prefer healthy or vegetarian options, instead of comfort food, no problem! Of course, cornbread, hush puppies, and buttermilk biscuits are also on the menu. You will have a choice of beverages, but sweet tea, not surprisingly, is the most popular. Orders can be called in for pick up, and delivery is available via Grubhub.
A traditional meal consists of meat and two sides. Desserts are displayed, wrapped in plastic wrap, on tables along one wall, allowing for easy viewing and access for choosing the ultimate end to a great meal. The selections include cake slices: German Chocolate, red velvet, coconut, carrot, and a southern favorite, pecan pie.
The restaurant receives patrons Monday-Friday, and Sunday, from 10:45 A.M. - 2:30 P.M. Service at Minnie's is quick, and the staff is welcoming, friendly, and super courteous..
