For delicious finger lickin' southern cuisine, Minnie's Uptown restaurant offers home-style cooking delights that adds its own uniqueness to the plethora of dining choices in the downtown Columbus neighborhood. The restaurant was established in 1987 and has provided thirty-two years of lunch service from 10:45am to 2:30 pm Monday through Friday making it a favorite in the area. Minnie's Uptown Restaurant is nestled in the heart of downtown Columbus at 104 8th Street.
As I entered this quaint establishment on a Tuesday afternoon, I was greeted by a friendly, gracious staff and the incredible aromas wafting of southern home-style cooking. As I approached the chalkboard menu, I saw a variety of delicious selections. The first menu selection was the fried and baked chicken, followed by the salmon cake, fried grouper filet as well as country and hamburger fried steak. The entrees came with two or three sides such as mac-n-cheese, mashed potatoes, green beans and turnip greens. My recommendations are to try the succulent fried chicken which has an abundance of flavor as well as being juicy and has a satisfying crispy texture. Additionally, mac-n-cheese has a creamy cheddar blend baked buttery flavor and the turnip greens has a hint of smoked meat and vinegar had just enough flavor with just enough spice, however, if not hot enough there is Texas hot sauce available to further enhance the experience. I concluded my dining experience with a savory moist yellow cake slice with a creamy chocolate frosting.
My lunch experience was a favorable and pleasant one because I enjoyed all the tasty flavors that exploded in my mouth and I would recommend this experience for everyone to explore.
